General Information

Saddle-stitched booklets can be printed in different sizes. The largest size of a booklet which we can produce is A4 portrait format. The smallest size booklet we can create is an A6 portrait format. We can print A5 and A6 landscape booklets as well as square booklets.

Amount of pages

We can only create a booklet with a multiple of 4 pages (including the cover pages). This means that your document needs to have 4,8,12,16, 20 .. pages. To get the number of pages required for printing, you may need to insert a blank page into booklet – the so called filler. Fillers are usually put after the front cover page or before the back cover.

The maximum number of pages we print is 28 up to 44 depending on the paper weight and the size of the booklet. Typically, smaller size booklets can not have too many pages printed on thick paper otherwise the booklet will not lie flat.

If you send us an email and describe us what you need printed, we can help you with an advice regarding the size and paper. You are also welcome to send us your document so we can check it and give you some advice on how to design the best and the most attractive looking booklet which would comply with the printing requirements.

File lay-out and printing requirements

Please make sure that your file is designed following the requirements below:

  • Single page lay-out (we are not able to print spreads)
  • All pages within one PDF (do not save the cover in a separate file)
  • The pages should be in the correct reading order and the front and back cover are included in the page count
  • 3mm bleed
  • Crop marks
  • All important information should be kept 5mm – 1 cm off the edge (depending on the size of the booklet and the number of pages***)

Trimming a booklet is a bit different than trimming other products as the inside pages get trimmed more than the outer pages. Any repeated borders in your design might be trimmed differently throughout the booklet.
